FIRE NOW AT 350+ ACRES AND STILL BURNING

The fire which started early this afternoon is now said to be at 350 acres. Many  fire departments are out there holding the perimeter and protecting homes. At one point at least eight homes were threatened. The Texas Forest Service has five dozers at the location from Livingston, Huntsville and Conroe. Additionally one dozer is on the scene from the U.S. Forest Service.

Two Texas Forest Service helicopters worked up until dark pulling water from a stock tank and dropping it on the flames. Fire crews are not able to do much with the interior of the fire due to the thick pine trees. There is also a large pine plantation the fire has run through.

At this hour fire crews are on the north end of the trying to stop it as it has already jumped several fire lines. The winds are starting to calm down compared to earlier when they were gusting and changing direction often.

San Jacinto County is still under a burn ban
