At 1:34 a.m. Tuesday morning New Caney, Splendora, Porter and Caney Creek Fire Departments responded to the New Caney Oaks Apartments on FM 1485 for a reported structure fire. As they arrived they were faced with two fires.
The first in the laundry room. Minimal damage was done there with some fire damage and sheetrock having to be removed.
The second fire was approximately 200 feet away on the edge of the woods next to the children’s playground equipment. The fire was starting to work it’s way deep into the woods when firefighters stopped it.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office was notified as firefighters believe it to be suspicious and two unrelated fires.
