At 3:45 pm today a report of a grass and woods fire came into 911. Moments after the dispatch additional calls came in stating it was a home and an RV. Caney Creek Fire responded with North Montgomery County Fire and East Montgomery County Fire. Units arrived in the 6400 block of Daw Collins, just south of Old 105 to find the woods burning. In addition, they found a mobile home that was abandoned fully involved and an RV fully involved, for the next 3 hours firefighters worked in the heat to extinguish the blaze. Daw Collins will be down to one lane for several more hours as firefighters pick up over 1000 feet of hose and finish with hot spots. MCSO is on the scene directing traffic. The Montgomery County Fire Marshals Office is investigating. The smoke from the blaze was so intense that it could be seen from the Conroe Airport Tower.
