The event is with the support of FDIC/Fire Engineering and the Pennwell Corporation, will pay tribute to the 343 firefighters who died on September 11, 2001. The FDIC 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb is one of several 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb events taking place throughout the U.S. this year. During the March 25th Stair Climb, participants will climb flights of stairs at Lucas Oil Stadium, equaling 110 flights – the same number as the World Trade Center Towers. Each climber, wearing turnout gear, station gear, workout gear, or carrying SCBA, will carry the photograph and biographical sketch of a firefighter who was lost on September 11th. This is not a timed event or a race, it’s a way for firefighters to honor and remember their comrades who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.
