CONROE- Several families were displaced following a fire Thursday night at the White Oak Apartments on Montgomery Park Drive, but the damage could have been much worse.
Battalion Chief Michael Salisbury of the Conroe Fire Department said crews were dispatched to the structure fire and upon arrival of the first engine, discovered one ground floor apartment heavily involved.
“They extended on line into the apartment and extinguished a fire that had pretty much destroyed one apartment,” Salisbury said.
The fire was confined to the one apartment, but adjoining apartments received smoke damage, he said.
Apartment management found empty apartments to accommodate the 12 to 20 residents in the affected apartments.
No one was injured and the building was not structurally damaged, Salisbury said.
The fire is under investigation.
