Just after 11 p.m, Porter Fire Department along with Caney Creek, Central Montgomery County, and New Caney Fire Departments were dispatched to a reported commercial fire on Sorters Road just south of FM 1314.
With a Porter Fire Station just a little over 300 yards away the first Porter unit arrived at County Line Deer Processing with fire coming out of a break room in the rear of the complex. As firefighters started to extinguish the fire they found a dog inside just as they opened the door. With heavy fire and smoke the dog luckily made it out.
Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control with heavy damage to the break room.
The dog appeared uninjured as crews were cleaning up after the fire was extinguished.
No meat was affected by the fire.
The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate and attempt to determine the cause of the blaze.
