At 10 pm Friday night, Porter Fire was dispatched to a reported crash in which a victim had been ejected and was reported under the car. Units arrived to find a 2011 KIA Soul in the middle of the road completely ripped open. Its driver had been ejected and was deceased. In the backseat of the Soul were three child safety seats. First responders checked the roadside and woods to make sure that there had not been a child ejected. A 2008 Chevrolet 2500 pickup was on the shoulder of the northbound lane with heavy front-end damage. The driver of the pickup was trapped as the floorboard pined his legs against the dashboard. A female passenger appeared uninjured. However, an 81–81-year-old passenger was removed from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital in critical condition with a shattered pelvis. FM 1314 was closed. Porter firefighters were finally able to extricate the driver of the pickup. He was transported to the hospital with a broken foot and leg.DPS investigated the crash. With evidence on the scene law enforcement believe the driver of each vehicle was intoxicated. According to DPS, the Chevrolet truck was northbound on FM 1314 between Gene Campbell and Old Houston in the right lane. The KIA was southbound and crossed the center lane and one of the northbound lanes before striking the pickup. It is unknown what caused the vehicle to cross. Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Jason Dunn was contacted and ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the deceased driver to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Vehicular Crimes Unit is assisting in the investigation. The vehicles were towed by Millstead to the DPS holding facility.
