FM 1485 CLAIMS ANOTHER LIFE

For the second time in seven days a life has been taken on FM 1485. At 5:45p.m. , 55 year –old Melody Breaz of New Caney was eastbound on FM 1485 just past Willaby when a adult female walked across the road in front of her. Breaz did not see her and struck the woman.

New Caney Fire Department was dispatched and was first on the scene reporting the pedestrian was dead on the scene.

DPS Troopers investigating the crash said it appeared the woman dressed in dark clothes walked from the north side of the roadway to Casey Ridge Grocery when she was struck. Witnesses said Breaz, who was driving a 2005 Ford Focus was not traveling above the speed limit.

No charges are being filed at this time as the investigation continues.

The female who has not yet been identified was pronounced dead by Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts, who responded to the scene also. He ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.

That stretch of road which is less than one-half mile from the crash last Friday that killed the young mother.

EDITORS NOTE: IN THE TWO HOURS I WAS ON THE SCENE I WITNESSES SEVERAL PEOPLE WALKING AND CROSSING THE ROAD ION DARK COLORED CLOTHES. IN ADDITION THREE SMALL BOYS ON BICYCLES AND ONLY ONE HAD A SMALL LIGHT ON THE BACK OF HIS BICYCLE. ALL THREE WERE WEARING DARK COLORED CLOTHES TO THE POINT I DID NOT EVEN SEE THEM  UNTIL THEY RODE UP TO WHERE I WAS STANDING AND WERE ATTEMPTING TO CROSS BUSY 1485 TO GET TO THE STORE.

PLEASE IF WALKING CARRY A FLASHLIGHT AND WEAR SOMETHING REFLECTIVE OR LIGHT COLORED AND WALK FACING TRAFFIC AS FAR FROM THE MOVING LANES AS POSSIBLE.
