1130PM-FM 2090 is back open to one lane of alternating traffic. Construction continues as crews work to overlay FM 2090 with asphalt. Over the past few months from 9 pm to 5 am, crews started at I-69 and FM 2090 and were to complete the overlay to FM 3083. This meant closing one lane as they worked. With men walking in the construction area and truck loading and unloading it was necessary to have an escort truck run at a slow speed through the scene. At about 10:30 pm as the escort truck was traveling westbound with a line of vehicles, a flagger had the eastbound lanes stopped. He was at the intersection of FM 2090 and Crockett Martin. A Harris County Precinct 4 off-duty deputy was also at the location with his emergency lights activated. A male in a pickup truck became impatient and started revving his engine and spinning tires where the traffic was stopped. He suddenly accelerated, nearly running over the flagger. The deputy attempted to stop him with his vehicle but the driver refused. About one-half mile down the road the deputy was able to get in front of the driver at which time the driver ran into the deputy’s car. The driver was arrested by Montgomery County Deputies. He is believed to be intoxicated.
