About one hour ago crews broke a 6” gas line on FM 1097 just west of I-45. Crews were boring to set poles when it hit the gas line. North Montgomery Fire Department is monitoring winds and gas concentration in the area.Repairs have just been started and could take up to 4 hours. FM 1097 at the intersection of I-45 westbound is completely closed. North Montgomery County Fire Department is on the scene. TXDOT has set up barricades and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is working traffic control. Also coming east on FM1097 is closed approximately 1/2 miles west of the I-45 intersection and vehicles are being turned around.
Many commuters are exiting at FM 830 and using the back roads. Traffic is backed up onto the freeway at that location. However 830 is not affected by this incident.
TO GET AROUND THE SCENE EXIT FM1097 NORTH, CROSS OVER I-45. TURN SOUTH ON THE FEEDER APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS TO OLD MONTGOMERY ROAD. GO SOUTH ON OLD MONTGOMERY TO FM830. TURN RIGHT ON FM830 CONTINUE WEST TO THE FIRST MAIN ROAD WHICH IS THOMPSON. TURN RIGHT AND IT WILL DEAD END INTO FM1097
FM830 EXIT IS BACKED UP ONTO THE FREEWAY AT THIS TIMME. THE FOG HAS MOVED IN AND IT IS RAINING. PLEASE DRIVE SAFE
