HOUSTON – Former 11 News Meteorologist Dan Meador passed away Friday after a battle with cancer.
Meador was a longtime meteorologist with 11 News, and was the right-hand man to Dr. Neil Frank.
Colleagues knew Meador as a nice man who worked behind the scenes as a videotape editor until he worked his way onto the air as a weekend weatherman.
“I didn’t know him long, but appreciated his enthusiasm for weather, sharp satirical wit and appreciation for Sci-Fi TV shows and movies,” said 11 News Chief Meteorologist Gene Norman.
In recent years, Meador served as a moderator on the khou.com weather forum.
He was 59 years old.
