former constable and father to constable rowdy hayden recovering

For those of you who remember Charles Hayden, the former Precinct 4 Constable of Montgomery County and father of current Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden continues his recovery today.  Charles, who had been on a heart transplant recipient list almost two years was notified Sunday afternoon to report to the hospital immediately. A heart donor had been found and surgery was scheduled as soon as he arrived. Charles who was out in the yard on his bulldozer wasted no time getting to the hospital.

The surgery was very successful, he received the heart of a 34, year-old man who had passed away after a brain bleed.

Charles Hayden, who turned 71 last week began his career in law enforcement at the age of 18. That was in 1959 when he volunteered his services to dispatch for then Sheriff Gene Reeves.  In 1966 Mr. Hayden was elected as Justice of the Peace. Just six months later his application which had been submitted previously to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission was accepted and Hayden left his position as Justice of the Peace and went to work for TABC. He was also a detective with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Hayden then went on to serve two terms as Precinct 4 Constable which his son Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden now holds. After the two terms Charles Hayden went on to be elected as Precinct 4 Commissioner before having to give that up on the advice of his cardiologist.
