FORMER HARRIS COUNTY DEPUTY ARRESTED

A retired Harris County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant  accused of sexually assaulting a young girl for years was arrested Friday morning.

John Van Trump is charged with super aggravated sexual . This due to the child being under 6 years old.

Police say Trump started sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s daughter when she was five years old which continued. The girl is now 8.

Trump, 68, spent more than 30 years with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. He left in 2009.

Trump is being held without bond.

Trump started his career working as a patrol deputy in the 1970’s working the Northwest part of  Harris County.

Trump could face 25 years to life.
