Former MoCo Resident, Child Predator Gets LONG Federal Sentence!

HOUSTON, TX– A former Conroe resident and registered sex offender is headed to federal prison following his conviction of distributing and possession child pornography in 2019 and 2020. Timothy Lee Tyler, 44, admitted he was distributing child pornography while he lived in an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Longmire Road in Conroe, according to the US Attorney’s Office, Southern District of Texas.

The Texas Sex Offender Registry shows the Wisconsin native was first registered in Texas in 2016, with a pair of convictions for Possession of Child Pornography. He was already a registered sex offender when he moved in with friends in Conroe, and allegedly continued the behavior, and added distribution of child pornography to his crimes.

On September 12, 2022, Tyler pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography in 2020 and to possession of child pornography in 2019 and 2020. On Monday, June 5, U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen sentenced Tyler to 360 months for distribution, and 240 months for possession, to run consecutively for a total of 480 months (40 years) in prison.

According to US Attorney Alamdar S. Hamdani, the court considered information that Tyler had previously committed “hands-on offenses” against children who he managed to prey upon because their parents were supposed friends or loved ones. Hamdani also revealed that Tyler had used the Kik messaging app and encouraged other users to “create child pornography for his enjoyment.”

“For years, this person preyed upon children,” Hamdani said. “Online, he encouraged other predators to abuse their own children for his sick gratification. In real life, he terrorized and abused children of people close to him. This sentence will help ensure he isn’t allowed access to children ever again.”

Authorities say when Tyler was arrested, his mobile phone contained hundreds of photos and videos depicting bestiality, bondage, and sexual abuse of children.

In addition to his prison term, Tyler is ordered to pay $38,100 in restitution, and to serve 20 years’ supervised release after his prison term is complete. The sentence should keep Tyler under law enforcement supervision for the rest of his life.

The Montgomery County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Conroe Police Department assisted the FBI in the investigation.
