FORMER MONTGOMERY COUNTY ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY APPOINTED GRIMES COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY

GRIMES COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY JO ANN LINZER
After serving the State of Texas as a prosecutor since 1988, Tuck McClain traded his role as District Attorney of Grimes County and was sworn in Sunday as the inaugural Judge of the Grimes County Court of Law. The County Court of Law was established to help with the backlog of nearly 2000 pending cases. McClain is leaving the District Attorney’s Office before his term ends. Former Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Jo Ann Linzer, who was McClain’s First Assistant will now act as the Grimes County District Attorney until one is appointed by Governor Abbott. McClain said of Linzer, “I am confident that Jo Ann can do the job, and do it well, until there is an appointment. She has a vast knowledge and extensive experience in the law and her willingness to serve when called to do so is commended.”
McClain graciously accepted the bench to a crowd of lawyers, judges, family and friends. “I have loved being District Attorney. The decision was not an easy one to make to leave the DA’s office and take the bench. I am honored to serve the people of Grimes County as Judge of the County Court. The court has been a labor of love and I am eager to make it work.” Judge Albert McCaig and Judge Donald Kraemer offered advice as a new judge and congratulated him on the position. Judge McLain begins the inaugural term presiding over the County Court at Law immediately. Because he has been appointed mid-term, McLain announced he will be seeking the Republican nomination in the March primary.
