Twenty-five pieces of fire equipment are on the scene of the house fire in Grand Harbor with a smoke column visible from Conroe.
The fire broke out it in the garage but quickly grew as firefighters began to arrive on scene. The home owner saved several pairs of his daughter’s jeans after attempting to fight the fire with a garden hose. The fire then broke the water line in the house and spread to the interior of the home. The owner says the house had hardwood floors and was paneled with over 100 sheets of maple paneling on the first floor alone.
Firefighters began to work in the interior of the house but were forced to leave when the structure started to collapse. Additionally, there is a lack of fire hydrants in the area causing them to depend on trucks shuttling water from as far away as Walden.
Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable’s and Sheriff’s Offices are on the scene attempting to direct traffic within the subdivision.
