The suspect in the 6:30 p.m. attack along Hwy 30 that resulted in Grimes County EMS calling for two air ambulances to land at the Shiro Volunteer Fire Department has now been identified as Elpidio DeLeon (pictures).

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell says DeLeon is the ex-boyfriend of one of the two people who were brutally attacked earlier this evening in the Shiro area. The suspect’s ex-girlfriend was injured with lacerations from the machete, but investigators say it was her new boyfriend who was critically injured.

Sheriff Sowell says DeLeon’s house was cleared and it’s now believed the suspect fled the area, possibly in a white Mitsubishi Mirage, Texas temporary tag 93C732A

He may be headed for Houston and should be considered armed and dangerous.
