Grimes County Pursuit Bags Fugitive + One

Just after 9 a.m. Wednesday, Grimes County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were searching for a wanted person in the Plantersville area when they saw a Chrysler minivan matching the suspect’s vehicle with someone who appeared to be the suspect inside. The Investigators requested a marked patrol unit. A Grimes County Deputy in a nearby marked unit activated their emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect, Darrel Edwin Hemann, allegedly refused to stop. He continued west on CR 302 and then headed south on FM 1774, disregarding traffic lights and accelerating to speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

The pursuit continued into Waller County, where DPS and Waller County Sheriff’s Deputies and Navasota Police assisted.

Law enforcement allegedly saw Hemann’s passenger, Shandi Imhoff, tossing items out of the minivan’s front passenger window. The objects were later identified as narcotics.  EMS responded once law enforcement had the pair detained. Medics checked and cleared both, who were then arrested and transported to the Grimes County Jail for booking.

Darrell Hemann had a “blue warrant” through the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles for a violation and second-degree felony Delivery of a Controlled Substance, more than 4 grams, but less than 200 grams.

Shandi Imhoff is charged with Tampering with Evidence, which is a third-degree felony.

Items recovered from the vehicle included suspected methamphetamine, heroin, a pellet gun, a cap gun and other miscellaneous items. Additional charges are pending
