The River Plantation Fire Department hosted it first annual Halloween Hay Ride. The Department in conjunction with the River Plantation Community Improvement Association and the River Plantation Country Club were anticipating a relatively small turn out of perhaps a couple dozen participants. As fire fighters pulled into the parking lot with three apparatus’s pulling hay loaded trailers, they were stunned to see as many as 150 plus ghosts, goblins ,and super heroes cheering their arrival. The department members quickly revised the pre-arranged routs to accommodate every one, and launched a safe, fun-filled night. The hay rides made multiple trips throughout the neighborhood allowing everyone about an hour of trick-or-treating accompanied by lots of flashing lights, and the occasional siren. To accent the night, as the last hay ride arrived back at the country club, the department members had to rush off to a recurring grass and woods fire off Creighton Road and Moorhead.
