Harris County Sheriff’s deputies are searching for one of two suspects involved in a carjacking that turned into an officer-involved shooting Wednesday night in northwest Harris County.
Officials responded to a call about a carjacking around 8 p.m. Wednesday night in the 3600 block of Tamfield Drive. Deputies spotted the truck involved about 25 minutes later and went after the vehicle. The truck eventually stopped in the 9300 block of Desert Flower Lane where the driver ran from the scene.
Officials say the passenger then began driving the truck, leading deputies on a chase down several streets to a cul de sac where the suspect rammed into a patrol car.
Authorities say the driver accelerated toward the patrol unit, and one of the deputies discharged his weapon. The suspect then drove down Silent Wood Lane and struck a fire hydrant and a parked car.
The suspect abandoned the truck after driving into a nearby bayou. Deputies were able to take the first suspect and original driver into custody.
No injuries were reported. Officials are still looking for the second suspect in the area of Spears Road and Veterans Memorial.
