HARRIS COUNTY PURSUIT ENDS IN WALKER COUNTY

Just after 3 pm Saturday Harris County Precinct 4 attempted to stop a Hertz rented Mazarati going northbound on the Hardy Toll Road in excess of 100 miles per hour. The driver sped up and a pursuit ensued. They traveled north on the Hardy Toll Road into Montgomery County where they were assisted by Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constables Office, DPS, and Montgomery County Precinct 2 Constables Office. The chase continued through Montgomery County where the driver threw a gun out as he passed through Conroe. Walker County was notified and attempted to set spikes at the weigh station just north of the Montgomery County line. Walker County Sheriffs units then joined the pursuit as did State Park Police. When the driver reached FM 1375, the New Waverly exit he attempted to exit but did not realize the tight curve on the exit and ran off the road into the grass median. He immediately jumped out and fled east on foot. He fled to a home with a firewood business on the feeder and inquired with the owner if they needed any help as he tried to duck behind piles of firewood. The armed owner drew on him and held the suspect until law enforcement officers were able to take him into custody. A small amount of marijuana was found in the vehicle but they also recovered several thousand dollars that he had on his person. He was transported back to Harris County. The pursuit lasted 38 miles.
