HARRIS COUNTY RELEASES DRUNK DRIVER WITH FIVE OPEN WARRANTS WHO HIT PATROL CAR ON A $100 BOND

On March 27, 2021, a deputy with Constable Mark Herman’s Office was monitoring traffic in the 18900 block of State Highway 249 along the shoulder of the roadway when the deputy’s marked patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle. The driver was identified as Tomas Tovar, who displayed several signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered and it was discovered that he was driving while intoxicated. Further investigation revealed that he had five open warrants out for his arrest. The injured deputy was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. “Tomas Tovar was arrested and booked into the Harris County jail, charged with Driving While Intoxicated. His bond was set at $100.00 out of County Court 12.” -Constable Mark Herman
