HAZARDOUS WEATHER POSSIBLE

A strong storm system will approach Southeast Texas late tonight and Sunday. The system will produce scattered showers today. The precipitation will become more numerous early Sunday morning and overspread all of Southeast Texas by mid morning Sunday .


Timing: 4 AM Sunday morning through 4 PM Sunday afternoon.


Primary Hazard: Strong damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. The stronger storms will likely uproot trees and disrupt power.

Secondary Hazard: Locally heavy rain – current rainfall forecast 1-2 inches area wide with the higher totals to the northeast.


Areas possibly impacted: All of Southeast Texas

Forecast confidence: High

In addition to Sundays potentially severe weather, there is a Wind Advisory in effect today for portions of Southeast Texas west of a Madisonville to Freeport line for sustained S-SE winds of 20 to 25 mph. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect over the coastal waters and adjacent bays. Elevated tides will also be a concern and minor coastal flooding will be possible on Sunday.  Conditions also remain favorable for rip currents and persons heading to the beach should use extreme caution.
