… Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening…
With high temperatures forecast to be in the mid and upper 90s combined with dewpoints in the mid 70s a heat advisory will remain in place today as heat indices between 105 and 110 will be common across the area this afternoon.
If you plan to be outside… avoid prolonged exposure or strenuous physical activity. Your body can lose up to a gallon of water an hour through perspiration. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Alcoholic and caffeinated beverages can increase the rate of water loss in your body… increasing the risk of heat exhaustion or stroke. Wear lightweight… light-colored… loose-fitting clothing. Wear a hat to shield yourself from the sun…
and use a sunscreen to reduce possible sunburn.
Saturday was just as bad but we found several finding ways to stay cool. This includes two young ducklings who crawled up on one of the boats to get in the shade of the motors.
Please if your out at the lake be safe and stay clear of the Lake Patrol boats in the center of the lake. There are divers in the area.
