No change to expectation of extreme heat today and Monday. A heat advisory is still in effect and has been extended to include Monday as well. Heat index readings of 103 to 111 throughout the afternoon hours should be the norm.
A strong ridge of high pressure dominates the weather across the southwestern U.S. extending over Texas. Yesterday heat index readings spent the afternoon in the 100-108 degree range. Today slightly warmer conditions expected with high temperatures peaking around 99-103 inland and 91 to 93 on the coast. Monday should see similar readings.
Perhaps so good news is in order, a weak cool front will move into the area Tuesday bringing slightly cooler weather and possibly even a few showers or thunderstorms. A slow steady warm up will follow though Wednesday through Friday.
