An area of disturbed weather in the western Gulf nearing Texas. Tropical moisture is going to spread over Southeast Texas with showers and thunderstorms increasing over the Gulf and coastal areas today. Tuesday through Thursday will be wet with frequent showers and thunderstorms. Locally heavy rainfall is likely at times. Intense rainfall rates in the stronger storms of 2-3″/hour are likely to occur tonight first near the coast and then spreading across much of Southeast Texas Tuesday and continuing through Thursday. Rainfall totals of 2 to 6 inches will be common by Friday with some areas exceeding 12″.
A Flood Watch will likely be issued tonight or early Tuesday.
