HIGHWAY 105 OPENS AFTER THREE HOURS

A fatal accident at 2 pm this afternoon closed Highway 105 in both directions for almost three hours. At 2:01p.m. Cut and Shoot, Splendora and New Caney Fire Departments were dispatched to a major accident on SH 105 near Jayhawker Creek. This is between Fostoria Road and Lee Turner Road.

When they arrived they found a 30-year-old woman trapped in the driver side of a Sequia SUV. She was critical and all three departments worked hand-in-hand almost thirty-minutes to free her.

Life Flight was requested and landed just as they freed her. She had severe lower extremity injuries. She remains in Herman Hospital in the Medical Center in critical condition. DPS was not able to positively identify her yet.

The driver of a white Chevrolet Astro van which had flipped was pronounced dead on the scene by Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts. He was sent to Dallas for autopsy by Casner Funeral Directors.

According to DPS, witnesses told them the female driver in the SUV was eastbound on SH  105 and had crossed the center line several times. One witness was about to call 911 when she crossed again hitting the van head-on and flipping the van.

Warren Diepraam, Assistant Montgomery County District Attorney assisted DPS Troopers, McGilbery, Sutton, Cash, and Sgt. Leitner in the investigation.

Names were not released until families could be notified.
