Moments ago TXDOT has started operations of applying deicing material to bridges and overpasses in advance of the freezing rain moving into the area. TXDOT says the material must be applied to dry pavement for it to work effectively. Crews in Harris, Montgomery and surrounding counties are preparing for the worst.
Tonight temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-forties with a high for tomorrow just a few degrees above that. Then after sunset temperatures will drop to below freezing.
The chance of rain for Thursday is 60% and 70% for precipitation in the form of ice pellets Thursday night. Accumulation of ice and snow is expected to be up to an inch.
Friday the high is expected to hover at forty degrees.
