An auto-pedestrian accident Friday night has claimed the life of a 24-year-old John R. Risner of New Caney man.
At 9:31 p.m. several calls came into the 911 center in regards to the accident which happened at FM 1485 and Mexican John. According to Trooper Lopez, the man was walking down the road in an unknown direction when a light blue car driven by a female who was southbound struck the man throwing him up possibly over the hood and ejecting him almost thirty feet further down the road.
Witnesses stated the vehicle then stopped, a woman emerged from the driver’s seat. She saw what she had hit, screamed, got back in the car, and sped off. She is described as light-skinned, between twenty and forty years of age, thin build with possibly brunette hair.
MCHD crews and New Caney firefighters worked on the severely injured man before transporting him a short distance to the New Caney fire station where PHI Air Medical was standing by.
With PHI crews onboard the ambulance, they were starting to move him to the helicopter when he went into cardiac arrest. Due to the size of the helicopters, CPR cannot be effectively performed while inflight. The medical crew decided to transport the victim to Kingwood Hospital by ambulance.
With the air medical crew on board the ambulance, he was taken to Kingwood Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Trooper Lopez assisted by Precinct 4 Constables remained at the scene for over an hour collecting evidence and photographing it. Glass and paint chips were recovered to be sent to the DPS lab.
FM 1485 remained closed for almost two hours as the investigation continued.
As Trooper Lopez left the scene he immediately started following leads. The lead paid off as early Saturday morning he arrested Latisha Diane Brown, age 31 of Tomball. She has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail on Intoxicated Manslaughter and Accident Involving Injury/Death/FSRA (death).
Brown is not a newcomer to the legal system. In 2003, 2005, and 2006 she was arrested for multiple hot checks and in that same year arrested for possession and also Manufacturing Controlled Substance. In 2007 she was arrested again by Shenandoah for Possession.
