On September 19, 2010 Willis police officers were dispatched to an auto pedestrian accident in the 300 block of East Powell. Officers arrived on scene to find 55 year old Elizabeth Clements lying on the shoulder of the roadway and that the actor and vehicle involved had fled the scene. Clements was still alive, but ultimately died at Hermann Memorial in Houston due to the injuries inflicted by the vehicle that struck her. The investigation of the incident revealed that 27 year old Colt Gregg of Willis was the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed Clements. Warrants were obtained through the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for Intoxication Manslaughter and Failure to Stop and Render Aid. Colt Gregg surrendered himself to the police department this morning, at which time he was arrested and booked into Montgomery County Jail at approximately 10 A.M. Family members were briefed on the status of the case this afternoon, and they were relieved that the offender had been apprehended and would face justice. The Willis Police Department would like to thank the Texas Rangers, The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department’s Crime Scene Unit, The Texas Department of Public Safety Accident Reconstruction Unit, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for the assistance rendered in this case.
