HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE

Friday afternoon just after 3:00 p.m. Cut and Shoot Fire Department was dispatched to a mobile home fire in the 100 block of Aquarius. When they arrived they immediately called for a second alarm as they had a mobile home totally engulfed and threatening to set a neighbors home on fire.

Caney Creek, Splendora and North Montgomery County Fire Departments responded. With no fire hydrants water had to be shuttled in.

As two of the firefighters entered the structure there was a structural collapse forcing firefighters to be evacuated from the structure and fight the fire from the outside as the interior was unsecure.

There were no injuries, However some hose was trapped under the collapsed roof with and destroyed. Two residents were home at the time of the blaze. The Red Cross was on the scene to assist the families.

The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

The fire was extinguished and close to 5:00 p.m.

As firefighters arrived at the an ambulance was dispatched as a precaution. The driver of the garbage truck who was on his normal rounds was cited for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. That stemmed from him refusing to get out of the road and his crew continuing to dump garbage in the back with the ambulance sirens blaring behind him. He was finally allowed to leave close to 5:00 pm when the road had cleared of the fire trucks blocking him in.
