HOME OWNER BUSTS THIEVES IN THE ACT

Just after 4 am Sunday morning Alan Mallard who owns New Caney Fence Company off Fire Tower Raod was sound asleep in a nice warm bed. That was until his neighbor called him and advised him that his low boy trailer was being stolen. Jumping out of bed, not getting dressed, Mallard rushed out into the 45-degree weather in his underwear and confronted two males who were driving a Ford SUV loaded with batteries. They were indeed in the process of stealing his trailer. Mallard held both at gunpoint for close to 15-minutes as he waited for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to arrive. As he waited both males begged to be let go, one male identified as Justin Vinton told Mallard that he had a child at home with a babysitter. Both were taken into custody. Aaron Scott McGaughey, who gave an address from, Evant, Texas had previously been arrested by Conroe Police in August of 2014 when after a foot chase he was tied to 6 stolen batteries from Midtex Supply. By the time it was over, he was linked to 18 different cases of battery theft along I-45 in Conroe. Those charges were dropped to a misdemeanor and he was sentenced to 30 days in jail. He has several prior burglaries of building and theft charges out of other counties which he has served time on including two stints in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In April of 2018, he was sentenced to 90-days in jail on a possession charge here in Montgomery County. Vinton also has a long theft history in Conroe, Bryan and Robertson County but has never served more than 180 days for his thefts.
