HOUSE FIRE WITH UNUSUAL RESCUE

Saturday morning just after 10:30 a.m Caney Creek Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on Talmalge Hall in the River Plantation Subdivision. With a station right around the corner, they were there within 2-minutes and reported heavy fire conditions. Needham Fire and Conroe Fire assisted them in getting the fire under control. As the crew searched on the second floor for any victims, they found several. The problem was they weren’t sure how to complete the rescue. In the second floor room, they found snakes and other reptiles. The snakes were still very much alive. With the help of the homeowner, the Fire Marshal investigating and several other firefighters they were removed to a garage area. According to Caney Creek Fire Chief Flannley, there were close to 100 snakes and other reptiles in the home. The Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Early indications were a Christmas tree which was purchased around Thanksgiving and had the lights on when the homeowner left a short time before the fire broke out. A resident on the next street spotted the smoke and called 911.
