HOUSTON POLICE ANNOUNCE SGT. STEVE PEREZ FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

Sergeant Steve A. Perez died in the Line of Duty on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife Lupe Cheryl Perez. Sergeant Perez was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and joined the Houston Police Department on November 15, 1982, Academy Class #109.

During his career as a police officer, he was assigned to the Northwest and Juvenile Divisions. He promoted to the rank of Sergeant on July 1, 1992, and was assigned to the Emergency Communications, Northeast, Special Operations, Crime Analysis and Command Center, Vehicular Crimes, and Traffic Enforcement Divisions.

The body is entrusted with Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Freeway, Houston, Texas 77022, (713) 695-0924.

A Rosary will be recited at Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church at 527 South Houston Avenue, Humble, Texas 77338, (281) 446-8211, on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, starting at 4:15 p.m. A liturgy will follow, ending at 5:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held and celebrated downtown at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Parkway, Houston, Texas 77002, (713) 659-1561, on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, starting at 9:30 a.m.

Burial will be private at the Houston National Cemetery.
