HOUSTON POLICE OFFICER IS REMEMBERED

Last Sunday morning as Officer Kevin Will was working a traffic accident on Loop 610 and Yale he was was struck and killed by a drunk driver. Will who had been with the Houston Police Department since 2009 had been part of the accident investigation unit for one year. At role call Saturday night Will stated he had been with the unit for one year and wanted to know if he was now considered a veteran instead of a rookie.

Several hours later he would give his life as he pushed a witness out of the way when he saw the vehicle with the intoxicated driver heading right for them.

The driver who suffered minor facial injuries in the crash remains in the Harris County Jail without bond and with an Immigration Hold on him.

This morning hundreds of officers from around the state attended the funeral on Kevin Will at the Champion Forest Baptist Church on Stuebner Airline in Spring. As the funeral ended  HPD helicopters approached in the skies above in a missing man formation.

Kevin Will leaves behind two young children and a wife who is expecting a child in 3 months.
