HPD SGT ASSIGNED TO AIRPORT KILLED IN SHOOTOUT

According to HPD Chief, Sgt. Sean Rios was a 25-year veteran with the Houston Police Department. He was on his way to his 2 pm shift at the airport when for unknown reasons he encountered a shootout at I-45 and Stuebner Airline. Sgt. Rios was hit multiple times and ran to a motel office for help. He collapsed in the office. HFD responded to the scene but Sgt. Rios was pronounced deceased. Rios is 47-years-old and leaves behind four children ages 9,12,14 and 17 along with his parents. He also has two cousins who are HPD Detectives. The suspect is being identified as Robert Soliz, 9/13/96 was last seen fleeing east on Canino. The vehicle a Mercedes was located in the 7900 block of Berwyn not far from the scene. A black truck was seen leaving that area and is now being sought. One shooter is being sought. He is described as having sleeve tattoos. Several agencies reported the shooter was captured that is being said by HPD to be false.
