Almost 1500 friends and family attended the funeral service of 17-year veteran Liberty County Deputy Odell Mcduffie Jr. who was killed Monday when his patrol car crashed and burned. Of 1500 many were officers from police agencies around the state. Leaving Cleveland the funeral procession stretched almost two miles as they made their way to Brookside Cemetery in Houston. Officers holding traffic at entrance ramps saluted as he passed, even motorists in the traffic on the feeders exited their vehicle and stood at attention with some saluting.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office provided the Honor Guard complete with bugler.
Odell’s brother Cedric is a Cleveland City Councilman and a Liberty Police Officer, His sister Monique is the former mayor of Cleveland.
