HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS WITHOUT POWER IN HOUSTON AS MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION TOWERS COLLAPSE

Thursday nights violent storms took out multiple power transmission towers in northwest Harris County. This affects over 100,000 CenterPoint Customers that may not get power restored until next week. With over 2000 workers working to restore power over 5000 are on the way to Houston to assist in line repair and tree removal from equipment. The 100,000 does not include the over 600,000 homes that remain without power. Centerpoint said the towers that collapsed cant just be built again they have to do soil samples , get engineering drawings, move them in and then have to set matts for heavy equipment and cranes to get to the sight. However, in some cases helicopters have been used to erect the towers. For some of the customers it could be next week or longer before power is restored.
