HUNTSVILLE – Starting 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, the main lanes of IH 45 in Huntsville will close each night through Friday, Nov. 14. The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning after each nightly closure. Traffic will be diverted to the IH 45 frontage roads until able to re-enter IH 45. These closures are needed to install bridge caps, beams, and panels on the new FM 1374 bridge crossing IH 45.
Southbound Closures:
The IH 45 Southbound main lanes will be closed the following nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following mornings: Sunday, Nov. 9, Tuesday, Nov. 12, Wednesday, Nov. 13, and Friday, Nov. 14. Traffic will be diverted to the IH 45 Frontage Road at Exit 115 (FM 1374/Montgomery Road) and will be able to re-enter IH 45 South at the entrance across from Huntsville Toyota.
Northbound Closures:
The IH 45 Northbound main lanes will be closed nightly, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following mornings, from Monday, Nov. 10, through Thursday, Nov. 13. Traffic will be diverted to the IH 45 Frontage Road at Exit 114 and will be able to reenter IH 45 north of Smither Drive.
FM 1374 Bridge Closures:
The FM 1374 roundabout bridge will be closed the nights of Wednesday, Nov. 12, through Friday, Nov. 14, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following mornings. Traffic needing to cross through the intersection will be diverted north to Smither Drive and south to Veteran’s Memorial Parkway.
Message boards will be in place advising drivers about the closure and law enforcement officers will be in place to help with the flow of traffic.
