An idea that has been discussed for the past two years in the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office after it was noted that some northern law enforcement agencies had placed “In God We Trust” decals on their patrol vehicles finally came to fruition this week when those same type decals were placed on Sheriff’s units here in Liberty County. Quite recently some of the Texas law enforcement agencies started putting “In God We Trust” decals on their patrol vehicles and it seems to be a growing movement across the country that citizens of Liberty County will soon be seeing as well.
Sheriff Rader is quoted as saying, “ Right after the Childress Police Department put “In God We Trust” decals on their patrol cars several of the office personnel, deputies and others began talking with me to see if we could do the same thing. There were several things that had to be checked out. When the Texas Attorney General, Ken Paxton, said that the wording was permissible that was one hurdle out of the way. Then we had to figure out how to pay for the decals. We did not have any money set aside in the budget for this expense and I did not think it would be right to spend the taxpayers hard earned tax money on a project like this. I mentioned this to the employees and many of them said they would donate the money to buy the decals. Word spread throughout Liberty County and I got calls from several individuals, including media, telling me that they wanted to make a donation. The response was really good. The good luck and generosity kept coming. On Site Decals, the company we purchase our vehicle decals from said they would donate the decals and not charge any shipping. Every day the men and women of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office put their lives on the line for the citizens of Liberty County. Psalm 28:25……. Whoever puts his trust in the Lord shall be safe (NKJV). “In God We Trust”…… everyday ! “
