INDOOR MARIJUANA GROW BUSTED

On April 19, 2017, Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force (MCATTF) and the Walker County Sheriff’s Office began a joint “bait vehicle” operation. Due to a large number of trailer thefts, a trailer was placed at a location on FM 2693 in New Waverly. On April 21, 2017, the trailer was stolen and subsequently located at a residence in the 900 block of Big Woods in San Jacinto County. Members of the MCATTF, Walker County Sheriff’s Office and San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the location and observed two suspects in the yard. During the investigation, both suspects fled on foot into the wooded area behind the residence. Law enforcement gave chase and subsequently arrested Liliana Calix, (W/F, DOB 8/16/1999) and Yosmel Suarez-Montoro, (W/M, DOB 11/12/1992).
Law enforcement conducted a search of the residence and discovered an indoor Marijuana grow operation. Deputies secured the residence and obtained a search warrant for the location. As a result of the search warrant, law enforcement seized approximately 142 Marijuana plants with an approximate street value of $200,000.00. Law enforcement also recovered a stolen Polaris UTV, and a Sig Arms Pistol.
The co-operation between The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Walker County Sheriff’s Office and San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office led to the successful arrest of two subjects, the recovery of stolen vehicles/property and the dismantling of a Marijuana grow operation. Both Calix and Suarez-Montoro were transported to the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office Jail where they were charged with evading, possession of a controlled substance and felony theft.
