At 5:30 Saturday evening Justin Hallmark of Conroe was on SH242 near the river bridge with friends learning to ride his brand new motorcycle that he just bought. This was his first time on it as he headed east on SH 242. After passing the river bridge he turned around and started traveling westbound.
Witnesses say it looked like he was trying to steer the bike to negotiate the turn instead of leaning into it. As the bike appeared to be heading for the guardrail he jumped off. The bike continued forward but Hallmark landed on the crush point on the end of the guardrail causing severe trauma to his chest.
PHI Air Medical was dispatched to the scene and transported him to Hermann Hospital in Houston in critical condition.
With SH 242 closed traffic was backed up to the west to Lexington Drive and to the east , east of FM 1314.
