An inmate at the Joe Corley Detention Facility is in critical condition in a local hospital after being found hanging by the neck in a jail dorm room.
On April 6, 2010, Detectives from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Section were called to the Joe Corley Federal Detention Facility in Conroe, Texas at approximately 4:40PM in reference to an inmate that was found hanging in an empty room used for inmate sleeping. The other inmates from that area were outside the building in the recreation area.
Detectives arrived at the scene as E.M.S. personnel were transporting the inmate, a 47 year old Hispanic male to the hospital. Detectives believe the inmate hung himself using a portion of a bed sheet.
A guard discovered the man while conducting rounds and called for assistance. CPR was initiated until emergency response personnel arrived and transported the inmate by ambulance to Conroe Regional Medical Center. The inmate remains in critical condition this morning.
The identity of the inmate is being withheld until family can be notified. The investigation is ongoing by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
