INTOXICATED DRIVER CRITICALLY INJURES 4-YEAR-OLD IN HEAD-ON CRASH

At 9:45 pm Wednesday night North Montgomery County Fire was dispatched to a reported crash on FM 1484 at Heritage Ranch Road just north of Conroe. Units arrived on scene to find two vehicles with heavy damage. They immediately went to work on a 4-year-old female who was in cardiac arrest and suffered from an severe head injury and possible broken arm. She was transported to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands in critical condition. She had been seated in a child seat in the back seat of the Mitsubishi. She and her mothers friend were the only two occupants of the Mitsubishi . He was also transported to the hospital in stable condition. FM 1484 was closed until 2:30am as DPS Troopers and the Montgomery County District Attorneys Office Vehicular Crimes Unit Investigated the crash. Initial investigation showed the Mitsubishi was traveling west on FM 1484 when a Toyota 4-Runner crossed into the Mitsubishi lane of traffic. The Mitsubishi driver tried to avoid collision but was struck almost head-on , right side to right side. The driver of the Toyota was transported to the hospital but has since been released into custody of DPS. He is being charged with driving while intoxicated. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene. Milstead Wreckers removed both vehicles from the scene.
