INTOXICATED DRIVER WHO CRITICALLY INJURED 4-YEAR-OLD CHILD ARRESTED

Oscar Uriel Melgar, 26, of 11052 Keystone Timber in Conroe has been arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail early this morning. THis after being involved in a crash on FM 1484 last night. At 9:45 pm Wednesday night North Montgomery County Fire was dispatched to a reported crash on FM 1484 at Heritage Ranch Road just north of Conroe. Units arrived on scene to find two vehicles with heavy damage. They immediately went to work on a 4-year-old female who was in cardiac arrest and suffered from an severe head injury and possible broken arm. She was transported to Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands in critical condition. She had been seated in a child seat in the back seat of the Mitsubishi. She and her mothers friend were the only two occupants of the Mitsubishi . Her mothers friend was also transported to the hospital in stable condition. FM 1484 was closed until 2:30am as DPS Troopers and the Montgomery County District Attorneys Office Vehicular Crimes Unit Investigated the crash. Initial investigation showed the Mitsubishi was traveling west on FM 1484 when a Toyota 4-Runner crossed into the Mitsubishi lane of traffic. The Mitsubishi driver tried to avoid collision but he was struck almost head-on, right side to right side. Melgar who was driving the Toyota was transported to the hospital He was then released into DPS custody. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene. Milstead Wreckers removed both vehicles from the scene.
