It Shouldn’t Happen to a Dog

Animal Cruelty Charges, Not His First

HARRIS COUNTY, TX- On Saturday, Deputies with Pct. 4 Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to an animal cruelty report in the 7500 block of N. Sam Houston Fwy W. Upon arriving, Deputies were met by concerned citizens who were worried about two dogs who they said were left unattended in a vehicle that wasn’t running for over four hours.

Deputies found the owner, 62-year-old Darryl McKnight, and they confirmed he’d been at the location for four hours, as reported.

Harris County SPCA took custody of both dogs. Further investigation revealed his horses were seized in March by the same SPCA crew. Additionally, McKnight had an open warrant for Cruelty to Livestock out of Brazoria County.

“Darryl McKnight was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, charged with two counts of Animal Cruelty. His total bond was set at $200 out of County Court 11,” Constable Mark Herman said.
