JUDGE HAMILTON GIVES 4 LIFE SENTENCES TO MAN WHO SEXUALLY ASSAULTED HIS 3-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER

David Akins of Plantersville was found guilty of sexual assault of a child on 4 different counts. In 2013 Akins former landlord was cleaning out Akins home when he found a computer. After looking at it he found several images of child porn and turned it over to Jason Smith with the Tomball Police Department. Smith after researching it determined the male in the video was Akins and also his 3-month old child. A warrant was issued in Harris County for him. Further investigation showed this was not his first case but several in other counties in Texas including Montgomery County. Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constables Office started to work on the Montgomery County side of the case Lt Walling was then able to determine that the events happened in Montgomery County. Akins was moved to Montgomery County and Judge Hamilton set a total of $400,000 in bonds. During testimony in court it was found Akins has also sexually assaulted another family member over 30 years ago. According to Montgomery County Trial Chief Kelly Blackburn, the case is considered a Super Aggravated Sexual Assault since the child was under the age of 6. Thursday afternoon Judge Hamilton showed no mercy as she sentenced Akins to 4-life sentences in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Along with the 4 sentences she stacked them meaning in most cases the convicted person must complete his or her first sentence before the time starts for the second sentence and must complete that before eligible for parole. In Akins case, since it was a Super Aggravated case he was not eligible for parole at all.
