Judge Metts Announces Change

Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts, and pretty much everyone in any way connected to him, has been bombarded with questions regarding a rumor that recently began circulating, about some major changes that may be in the works. Judge Metts has not only announced his 2017 Fundraiser will be held February 23  (Thursday), he also confirmed he will be heading in a new direction. The Judge chose not to host a fundraiser in 2016, since it was such a busy election year and people were being asked to contribute to so many campaigns.

In previous years, the Judge’s fundraisers were held at a well-known venue just west of the East Montgomery Courthouse Annex in New Caney, literally across the street from the JP4 employee parking area. The 2017 event will be held at the A.V. “Bull” Sallas Park show barn on McClesky Road, which is northwest of the courthouse, but still nearby. The new location will provide more space to accommodate the crowds that have become larger with each event

Of course, the fundraiser’s location is not the only change in store. The judge’s faithful supporters might be interested to know of a second major change. While everyone has enjoyed the delicious fajitas that became a “Judge Metts campaign tradition”, this year will see a departure from that as well. The event will offer a gourmet slider bar, with various options in both beef and chicken, as well as chips, a drink, and desert. K-Star Country 99.7 FM radio personalities Brave Dave and Lisa Christi will be on hand, along with some surprise guests. As always, there will be live and silent auctions.

Many auction items have already been donated, including a guitar autographed by East Montgomery County’s most well-known musical talent, Sundance Head. Several guns, quilts, and much more will be offered. One of the door prizes offered is a 5-day cruise for two!

That’s February 23, 2017 (next Thursday), from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Bull Sallas Park on McClesky Road in New Caney. Come out and support East County’s favorite Judge!  MCPR will see you there!
