JUVENILE DRIVING STOLEN CAR HITS AND KILLS MOTORCYCLIST AS HE RUNS FROM POLICE

About 2am Monday morning a Houston Police unit spotted two vehicles racing near Gulf Bank and I-45. He attempted to stop one of the vehicles and that driver fled north on I-45. At times speeds reached 115 miles per hour. THe driver exited Richey Road and at one point slowed to about 20 miles per hour as if he was planning to take off on foot. But just before FM 1960 he again accelerated to over 110 miles per hour. He ran the red light at FM 1960 just as a 19-year-old male was traveling east on FM 1960. THe KIA t boned the motorcycle obliterating it. The driver of the motorcycle was thrown some fifty feet. Several officers stopped and began CPR on the motorcyclist as other officers continued to pursue the KIA which now suffered heavy front end damage and the windshield shattered on the drivers side. THe driver stopped and attempted to flee into the Tom Peacock Chevrolet parking lot. He was quickly apprehended. He was transported to Houston Northwest Hospital to be checked. The Harris County District Attorney is assisting in the investigation which is being conducted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office as the crash was in their jurisdiction. Traffic was backed up for miles as the intersection was completely closed until the morning rush hour. Police contacted the owner of the vehicle and learned it had been stolen sometime Sunday or Sunday night.
