On Saturday, January 3rd, 2026, at approximately 1:30 pm a juvenile male was operating an unauthorized gas-powered minibike traveling eastbound within the 15100 block of Wallisville Road near Evanston Road, a public roadway within unincorporated Harris County, Texas. At the same time, a Sergeant with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office observed several traffic violations being committed by the operator of the minibike, at which time the sergeant activated his emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop on the minibike. At this time, the operator of the minibike began to evade the Sergeant at an unsafe speed. The minibike was seen driving recklessly and traveling on the wrong side of the roadway several times during this pursuit. Ultimately, the minibike ran the red light at Uvalde Road, still on the wrong side of the roadway, before striking a 2014 Ford Expedition. Mr. Walter Rodriguez-Rivero was operating the Ford that was exiting a private driveway, traveling north across the eastbound lanes of Wallisville Road to go westbound onto Wallisville Road. The juvenile was found on-scene with no signs of life due to the injuries sustained from this crash by North Channel EMS at 1341 hours. There was video footage recovered during the initial on-scene investigation. This case remains open and under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division
